Deacon Meeting August 2017

Dear Deacons,

The Board of Deacons invites all deacons ages 12 and up to attend a Deacon Meeting this coming Thursday, August 10, 2017 for a gathering of fellowship and prayer. We will be blessed with the attendance of Fr. David Bebawy & Fr. John Ibrahim who will share with us a spiritual word about “Diakonia” (which means service). The meeting will be held in the Main Church from 6:30pm-9:30pm. We hope to see you all there!

Your brothers,
The Board of Deacons

City Ordinance 17-086

On July 19th 2017, the City Council of Jersey City approved the first step towards building the St. George and St. Shenouda Community Center on Sip Ave. Thank God for His love that He allowed everything to go very smoothly without issue thus far. May He continue His work always. Also, thank you to all who emailed the city Council members.  Your voice and efforts were noticed and had a great impact. May God bless you all. Please continue to pray for the project as we continue to move forward with the next step and for God to continually give us guidance.

SUBJECT: Regarding City Ordinance 17-086

Dear Councilmen and Councilwomen,

My name is [MyName] of [MyAddress] and I have called Jersey City home for the past [#OfYears] years.

I am currently a parishioner of Saint George and Saint Shenuda Coptic Orthodox Church, located at 835 Bergen Avenue, and as a parishioner of the Church I have witnessed first hand the positive effects the Church has had on our local community.  Over the past 43 years, there has been a significant growth in our community, and we are desperately in need of a new center to accommodate the needs of our growing community.

This is why I am asking you to vote in favor of the proposed City Ordinance 17-086, which will vacate a portion of Freeman Avenue and Field Avenue. This proposed ordinance will allow the community to redevelop a section of Ward B and will expand the Church’s services in the area as well as benefit the Jersey City community as a whole.

I would like to  thank you for all the hard work that you do to benefit our ward and Jersey City as a whole.

Thank you,
[MyName]

(I have lived in Jersey City for [#OfYears] prior to moving.) As a parishioner of the Church, I have witnessed first hand the positive effects the Church has had on our local community and this remains the reason why my family and I still commute to Jersey City to support and serve in a church that we call our second home. Over the past 43 years, there has been a significant growth in our community, and we are desperately in need of a new center to accommodate the needs of our growing community.
